JUDGEMENT aka Only God Can Judge Me

It is often easy for people to judge a book by its cover. People won’t even know you yet they with place judgment on you. That judgement is usually based from the outside looking in. Some people are judgmental and jump to conclusions based on a half ass story someone told them. That "someone" could be a fake friend, a hater, or someone who doesn't have or discloses all of the information.

Picture that meme of Prince Williams. This meme is giving a perfect example of why it’s important to take nothing personally and to never assume. The caption of the meme "the dangers of a one sided story." says it all. A person from the outside looking in may never truly grasp the full story of a situation from a one sided perspective. In the first image on the top it seems that Prince Williams is sticking up his middle finger. In the second image it shows that Prince Williams is indeed holding up his middle finger, but he is also holding up his ring ringer and little finger. Imagine only seeing the top image of Prince Williams where you can only view his middle finger and running with that narrative. I think you see where I'm going with this. You know the saying by Jerry Belson "Never ASSUME, because when you ASSUME, you make an ASS of U and ME” and if you don't know, now you know *biggie smalls voice*. So back to taking nothing personally and never assuming. This is half of the formula from The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.

According to Ruiz the four agreements are:

1- be impeccable with you words,

2- Don’t take anything personally

3- Don’t make assumptions, and

4- Always do your best.

These are some key elements that I live by and it makes life a little bit easier. It also reassures me that indeed the only judgment that truly matters is the one from God. God sees what truly happens and God knows the real story as God is indeed the all seeing and all knowing. Hence, whenever people come to me about situations between them and someone else I never place judgment or take sides. I wasn’t there so its not my place or duty to assume that the person telling me the story is being truthful or providing the full necessary details. I’m simply there to be an ear not to judge.

Key take away: One story, two point of views, God’s judgement is the only one that matters, and if your name ain’t Bennet don’t get in it.
